swap

March 29th, 2003 · 21 Comments

Hello! This is the new list mom.
I am thinking about having a soap/toiletries swap.
Right now i just want to get a feel of how many people would be interested,
then i will figure out if it will be one on one or if it will be multiple
partners.
So let me know if you all would be interested!

Right now the only info i can give on the swap is that it is for your hand
crafted soaps or toiletries. As soon as the deadline for signing up has come
(aug 31) and i see how many people want to participate i will figure out more
    rules.
ie. whether it will be one on one or multiple partners. Whether it is one on
one or multiple i will email you all with your partners names and addresses,
and i will email the group soon after the 31st with more details and the
deadline to send out your swaps.

priority mail postage along with your items (did i just repeat myself?, its 2

    I saw a recent post about a holiday swap. since I’m a newbie, I
really don’t know what a swap is…can someone please explain it to
    me?
    Thanks,
    Sherry

    Hi Sherry!
don’t know what a swap is…can someone please explain it to me?< <
Sure! I threw the idea out to the list but no one has responded to it so
far. What I was thinking about was a holiday swap where I send everyone a
questionnaire over e-mail, asking them about their likes and dislikes, what
their favorite bath and body products are, what they would most like to
receive as a supply to make toiletries, what their favorite colors/scents
are, etc., and then I would match people up. Then, everyone who participated
would purchase and/or make a gift for under $25 and send it to that person
(you wouldn't receive a gift from the same person who you bought for). I
thought it might be something nice to do for the holidays. If anyone is
interested in participating, you can e-mail me directly at
lvjensen@…, and I’d be more than willing to organize it.
Let me know what you guys think. All I would ask is that if you decide to
participate, PLEASE follow through, because it would be awfully unfair for
someone to buy a gift for someone else and then not receive anything (I’ve
gotten burned on this before!). And I would make sure to get everyone’s
questionnaires and assignments out ASAP to avoid the holiday rush! Let me
    know what you guys think!

    Hi everyone!
A few weeks ago, I mentioned the idea of conducting a holiday swap on this
list. My husband and I just got back from visiting our families in Indiana,
and I apologize for not having e-mailed everyone sooner about it. My husband
was in New York City for work on September 11, but thank God he is safe and
    sound and back at home.
In this holiday swap, I will e-mail anyone who is interested a short e-mail
questionnaire about their likes and dislikes, what toiletry supplies they
would be most interested in, etc., and then I will pair everyone up with
someone to buy/make a gift for. You will send your gift directly to that
person. The gifts cannot be more than $25, and there is no theme (anything
goes!). The idea is to share our bath and body products with each other and
brighten someone’s holiday season! So far, the following people have said
    they would like to participate:
    Kristin
    Judy
    Leanne (Glenbrook Farms)
    Sherry
    Lisanne (me)
Please let me know if this list is correct. If you are interested in
participating, e-mail me directly at lvjensen@…. I am
making the signup deadline OCTOBER 1, 2001. We should have an even number of
people participating. If anyone has any questions, please e-mail me about
    it! Thanks!

    Email me at
    ladyhill74@…
if you are interested in doing a swap. In the email tell me what you
will be wanting to swap….and how much it weights…just so I can
get an example of the weight for shipping charges. I am going to set
a 10 people max (so first come first serve)I am also going to
participate in this. With setting a limit on this, it will make
shipping charges less expensive. Once I have 9 people signed up, and
an idea of how much the items weigh I can come up with a shipping
charge for each box. Then I will have each person ship the box of
whatever they want to swap to me with a check for whatever the
shipping charges will be. I will seperate the items and send each of
the people a box, this way each person will get 10 items.(because I
am also going to be in this)
    Thank you.
If you have any other ideas to make a swap easier or more exciting,
    let me know.
    Bobbi.
I look forward to doing this swap~remember only sign up if you plan
to follow through with this, its only fun if you get 100%
    particiaption!!!!!

Could we list the items that would be accepted for the swap?

  • 17 Imogene Brynn // Feb 8, 2005 at 4:32 pm

I was thinking that what ever you wanted to make would be nice. It
doesn’t matter if its soap, lotion, candles, lip balms, ect. I
suppose to make it fair, the item should be between $4-$5. I will be
posting a complete “SWAP” message in a few mins just so everyone
knows whats going on…since there has been so many “swap” messages
    in the last few days…Thanks
