Solid Perfume…”Meepy”

July 27th, 2006 · No Comments

Meepy, I am not sure what the difficulty may be in the
scent not staying in your product. Since the Essential oils
and Fragrances are the most volatile part of your recipe,
you want to add them last, and at the last possible moment
before your blend of wax and oils solidify or they will
evaporate in the heat. Maybe if you add your scent portion
to half of the castor in your recipe, melt and
emulsify the wax and other portions called for, and then blend
in the castor scent.
Also, are you using a high enough percentage of scent?
After all, if this is a solid perfume I suggest the following
proportion:
Solid Perfume 10 to 25 percent essential oils and
fragrance oils in an oil and wax base.
NOTE: this is a higher concentration than you would
use for a Butter Bar for moisturizing chapped hands,
knees and elbows.
Also, I would use JoJoba rather than the Olive oil.
The olive may be interfering with the scent, also.
It is not commonly a component of solid perfumes.
