My dad has the shingles. Do you think you could just apply this mixture
directly on the skin? He isn’t exactly into baths. 
But I think this might
help him a lot.

I don’t see why you couldn’t apply it directly to the skin. What you might
do is add some water to make a paste, then put it directly on the skin.
