SALT SCRUB vs SUGAR SCRUB

June 27th, 2006 · No Comments

Kathy,
Salt scrubs are good for the feet, or rough areas
of the skin, but only if they are not raw or sensitive.
Otherwise, the salt will STING… Sugar scrubs are great for the face and body.
The scrubs are easily made at home.
Salt Scrub Ingredients
4 ounces of Sea Salt
4 ounces of Sweet Almond Oil (or other oil)
2 ounces of Jojoba Oil
2 Vitamin E capsules
½ ounce of glycerin melt and pour soap
½ teaspoon Fragrance Oil
Instructions
1.Mix salt and oils in a bowl.
2.Poke the vitamin E capsules and squeeze contents
into the above mixture.
3.Melt the soap base in the microwave and add to mixture.
4.Add fragrance (and color if desired).
To use, gently massage rough and dry skin prior to
shower. Rinse with warm water.
The M&P soap is added to help breakdown the oils.
You sure don’t want to be slipping and sliding, especially
with an oil slick in the shower. (Ouch!)

Brown Sugar Scrub
1/2 cup ground oats
1/2 cup finely ground almonds
1 cup brown sugar, turbinado or natural raw sugar
5 tablespoons almond oil
2 tablespoons vegetable glycerin
Combine ground oats, almonds and brown sugar
mix to incorporate.
In a separate container, combine oil & glycerin
stir well.
Add the liquid ingredients to the dry ones and mix well.
This should be pasty and if it doesn’t hold together in your hand, add another
tablespoon of oil.
To use: scoop out about 1/8 cup mixture and
use as a facial scrub, to exfoliate rough spots
or as an all over body scrub. Rinse with warm water.
As to what commercial brand is best, it is a matter of
personal preferance.
