RE natasha & manufacturing

July 15th, 2007 · No Comments

Hi Natasha…
You may try your local restaurant supply store. I upgraded my lab which
is about 500 sf, for a reasonable price there. Just walking around I
got a ton of good ideas. If you do not have a restaurant supply store
near you, look it up on the internet or even eBay. I would stick with
large stainless steel pots and maybe even a Hobart for mixing your salts
if you do not want to do it manually.
As far as training employees, I find that training them much as you
would teach a class is the most effective way. Every employee I have
had starts in packaging and works their way up to manufacturing. You
can have “workshops” where every one makes a small batch of the product
while you lead them step by step. I taught soap making classes to high
schoolers several years ago and noticed how quickly the students
learned, then decided to incorporate that sort of teaching method into
my training.
Hope this helps a bit and good luck;)
