Paraffin question ??

July 11th, 2007 · 2 Comments

Hi, my name is Dottie.

Is it possible to use paraffin that you use for making candles as refills for spa machines? I hate to spend extra $ for a product that
can be used for more than one thing. Especially if I can infuse my own ingredients (and of course, I practice on me first too). :)

    Dottie,
I use regular paraffin that is used for canning in my spa machine.
Paraffin is paraffin. The only thing that makes the one that is sold for the machines is the scent. I asked an instructor at a local beauty school and she said the same thing. Now with that in mind. Wax and paraffin’s are not the same thing. They are both petroleum products. Unless you are using Soy. Which can be made into either. But they are not interchangeable. Both are flammable but candle wax is more flammable than paraffin. Best of luck.

    Hi, Dottie,

Gee, that’s a good question. Never thought about that one. Anyone out there know? I’d venture to say that one of them melts at a different temperature, but who knows. They could be interchangeable.
