Newcomer’s soap problem

October 30th, 2003 · 4 Comments

Hello. My name is Lynn and I live in Colorado. I’ve been making CP soap at
home and am having problems with my olive oil soap (I got the recipe out of a
book, so I believe the lye to oil mix to be correct). It suds fine, but if I
melt it, it turns int a gommy, sticky mess. Almost like a waxy thing. It’s
impossible to mold as it sticks to everything. Can anyone give me any ideas?
I’m about to go back to boiling down my own tallow as it didn’t happen as
often with the tallow soaps.
Thank you for your help.

rebatch is when you melt your soap down to add other ingredients to it
