Hello all! I seem to have very sensitive skin when it comes to the sea salt used in the majority of scrubs. Are there some alternatives which will still provide the same coarseness as sea salt? I’ve tried the oatmeal and ground up walnut shells and such, but they all come out too fine. Please help. Thank you.

Janet, I have oily skin and love using salt scrubs, but some in my family have asked for alternatives also as it seems to dry their skin too much.
I have used white sugar and brown sugar also. They are about the same in coarse-ness and don’t dry the skin as much. Honey is a good additive for sensitive skin.
Let me know if you need a recipe. Rayna in IN

Hi Janet,
My skin is pretty dry so I’ve been using granulated brown sugar (it comes in a little cardboard pourable box in the baking aisle of the grocery store. I fill an open-mouthed jar about 1/2-2/3 full, and pour almond oil over it, as well as a few drops of whatever essential oil I’m in the mood for (carrot is great for dry skin).
Hope that helps!
Kathleen
